POST 8: English Language Challenges

I have always believed that the subject of "English" is very important for all university careers. However, I think that in some careers it is more necessary, such as in Journalism. I think the blog was one of the best activities to practice writing in English.

The main aspect to improve is the oral area, it is a bit difficult for me to speak English. I think I could improve it by practicing the vocabulary of the words and reading more texts in English. With that, the oral aspect could be improved.

The truth is that outside of English class, I have not been using English much, I have not had any event where I have to occupy this language. However, one way or another, I will have to practice it so as not to leave aside a language as important as English.

In the same way, the contents learned have made me gradually improve this language, either by reading or speaking in English.

POST 7: Changes to my Study Program

In my case, I am studying Journalism, although I have not lived all the courses of my study program, I believe that journalistic electives should be reinforced a lot and along with it the practice in the radio field.

Currently, I am studying Radio ll (one of the courses), but I think there should be a course that is Radio ll. With the aim of reinforcing the subject and the practice of the course.

The college load that I have currently had has been heavy and light, it depends on the situation. However, I believe that courses such as: Radio III, Journalistic Ethics II and a course that reinforce journalistic writing.

In this sense, all the technological tools that are in the university must be taken care of, that is, computers, cameras, among others. I believe that one of the best advances that the University of Chile could make is to implement a newsroom or press simulator at the Institute of Communication and Image (ICEI) where Journalism is studied. This would be for students to practice journalistic work more closely and continuously.

It is understood that due to the pandemic it has not been possible to carry out face-to-face exercises, but even so, I believe that one of the most important teaching methods is to be based on the reality and exercise of the work. The theoretical field is important, but I think that the practice is even more relevant since this field will teach us how to act in different situations.

POST 6: Time Travel to the Future

My time travel to the future would be when there is a world that respects fauna and flora, human rights, opinions, among others.

I would like to reach a world where pessimism is a minor characteristic and positivism along with happiness are the main pillar of the world. A world without violence (I know it is impossible, but I would love that there was not violence). A place where the government that we have does not take advantage of the power it has at that time.

A place where water does not belong to a single family, but it is a human resource and considered a natural resource, a place where the environment is cared for and not damaged as it is now. A place where contamination is at a minimum or in the best of cases does not exist.

Despite all this utopian world that I imagine and that I would like to travel, I prefer to live in the present, before that, in the past or in the future, but if people ask me: What is my ideal world or the one that I would like to see in the future? I could tell what this world I imagine is. A world that is not self-destructive by the people who compose it, I consider this to be the worst mistake we can make.

This ideal world that I imagine is because I consider that our world is now in a crisis regarding the environment, respect among people and as such good life of people.

I hope this stops and that we really change as a society, we take the weight of things and we achieve to be a more united society that builds a solidary, united and positive world.

POST 5: My Future Job

I would love to have a future job related to the career I am studying, specifically I would like to be a television journalist (on the TV studio) or journalist in the field (outdoors, reporting or interviewing). I think that it is very important the information in the journalistic field, given that, it is obtained in a more direct way and in the moment.

In journalism you need to travel a lot to report. In this sense, I would like to travel to see different places a lot, apart from doing my job jajaja. I think that I would work in an office, writing news, but the only thing I would not like is it to be always, that is, for a while it would be entertaining, but I would like to be more in the field, I prefer the outdoors.

In addition, I want to specialize in field reporting, something that is linked to the type of job I want to have. Moreover, to specialize, I would like to study a magister degree and a doctorate to have a greater field of work and to be able to find a position in this type of work. In addition, I will highlight that my favorite job that I would like to have is that of a news presenter (TV or radio).

POST 4: My Favorite TV show

My favorite TV show is Pasapalabra, I love the games that the program has and what each game involves, especially the final game called “El Rosco”.

Pasapalabra is a game TV program which consists in a person having to guess words, related to the letters of the alphabet, with a description that is delivered by the host of the program. In the case of not knowing the word, the person who must guess can say "Pasapalabra" to be "saved" and it is up to the second contestant to answer. The game is about two people who compete for the prize.

In the game, all type of people participate in it, there is not specific character or with certain requirements. The game is suitable and accessible to all people who want to participate. The only specific character in the program is the animator who is Julián Elfenbein

I will highlight that, from all the episodes, I think the episode that I like the most is when Nicolás Gavilán won "El Rosco", but he did not show a reaction of happiness for having won, he remained serious and did not celebrate. Then, when the host hugged him, the young man was excited. It gave me excitement, laughter and surprise, I never thought that Nicolás was going to act that way and he would stay serious.

The TV show is very good. I like to watch it, because I love general knowledge games, I think they are very good for the mind and learning from each person.

POST 3: A person I would like to meet

In my opinion, I have two famous people that I would like to meet: The singer Marco Antonio Solis and the actress Emma Watson.

First, I will like to meet a Marco Antonio Solis, because I think that he is a very simple and nice person. Despite being on stage and making lots of money, I think that I have never watched him (on television) an attitude neither imposing or thinking about himself above other singers, about the fame he has earned throughout his career.

And Emma Watson, I do like to meet her, because I think that is a woman very talented, intelligent and hard-working in what she does. In addition, her talent has shown very strongly since she played "Hermione" in Harry Potter and she confirmed this same talent in films such as "Beauty and the Beast" where he played the main actress: "Bella". One specific and unique thing about this actress, is that is very professional for the work, that is, when she has played a character, she plays it very well, almost as if she was not acting and it was herself who is experiencing what happens in the film.

These people are the ones I would like to meet the most and it is for two simple reasons: They are very professional in what they do and I think they are people who through their own efforts have become famous, without looking down on others.

POST 2: My Life Soundtrack

I don't have a band that has left a mark on my life, but if singers, mainly of bachata. I considered that the dance steps of this style are very pretty and fun. The main songs that I have listened to and have liked a lot are “Deja vu” by Prince Royce and Shakira, “Darte un beso” by Prince Royce, “Immortal” by Aventura, among others.

However, although it is one of the styles of music that I like, I pay more attention to the rhythm, I like songs such as Bachata, Cumbia, Reggaetón, among others, but bachatas are my favorite ones.

Mainly, the bachatas have been closely related to the moments of love and sadness that I have had in my life. I will not remember events jajaja but these songs are very close to those moments, although I can also listen to them when I am happy, since the songs are to let go of the body and dance.

I think that in no moment the songs affected a period of my life. They have made me remember moments, but not AFFECT them.

Finally, I think it is important to emphasize that songs are a companionship that a person has at different times of the life, from being sad to being happy. I believe that each person should give them the best meaning they consider.

POST 1: A country I would like to visit

I would love to know and visit two countries: Brazil and Mexico. The culture and gastronomy from both countries have caught my attention, I think that is the main reason why I want to know both countries. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about these countries, but I want to learn different things there. For example, their culture, their language, their beliefs, customs, myths, food, among other things.

Also, there are two things that I would like to do there: Knowing and walking down the tourist places of the countries (I love doing that). Brazil has very beautiful places to visit, as for example the beaches. While, Mexico has very attractive squares, such as Garibaldi Square (I know this because I watched it in a documentary)

Both countries can be very beautiful, but I would not like to live in none of them, I would like to visit them, but I prefer to live in Chile.

The companionship in a pandemic

Hello everybody

Today, I would like to talk about a very important topic and that interests me a lot: The companionship in this pandemic context. With talking I mean reflecting a bit. These has been difficult times, but I believe that despite of the context we has can do communication with our classmates.

Why I speak of this topic? Because sometimes is good reflect about the situation that we are living: A pandemic, which has not left us quiet from more than a year. It is clear that we have stopped doing many things like doing sports, go for a walk, go to the parks, among other things. However, I believe that we have learned much new things: The communication through another way (although it is not the best), have more time with the relatives, help in the house with some housework and other activities.

Let's look at it from this point of view: We still have years to meet more people (some may become friends), we know that we are tired and bored, but the only thing that I hope is to be able to meet all of you: My colleagues from career and University.

I know that this not best of the moments, but I send a message of encouragement and motivation. Let's support each other in these times and those who are friends, keep those relations because in the end they are always there: Our friends.

This blog was not about something as amazing or interesting about my tastes. It was a reflection that I make according to this context and I send it to you so you know that the companionship is thing very important today, tomorrow and always.

Likewise, the message goes to you, teacher, who has continued to teach us with great patience despite the context.

Education

Hello everybody

About the topic of education, is thing very important in the life of all the persons, since with this we acquire the knowledge that we will have in our life. It should be noted that it is not important from the school that you come, I believe that the distinction between private and public schools should not be made. In addition, that you study in the private school It does not mean that you will have more knowledge, more education or better quality of learning.

In my vision, I believe that the private schools have better utensils and infrastructure that the public school, that is, they are more prestigious regarding the economic situation, but the QUALITY and educational system may vary.

However, although you should not make that difference between private and public, is very important highlight that the education in Chile does not reach the quality point, because the economic policies end up being mixed with the educational system. In other words, many emblematic schools just have the name and the money, but the education quality does not get to be the best. It's more, sometimes the public schools outperform at the prestigious schools just for have a better teaching and approach to knowledge in each school subject.

The money doesn’t buy happiness or the education. All is in the school and in the teachers.

Religion

Hello everyody

In this week's topic, honestly, I do not dedicat must at have a position of be a Christian, Catholic, among other religions. In addition, I think that religion is important to a certain point of view, because it is perfect that you have a religious position, but unfortunately we do the questions of: God exists? Do you believe in the Bible? And questions like those. I prefer not debate in topics that, practically, nobody has the truth, given that it happened thousands and thousands of years ago. EYE: I am not an atheist, but I do not feel representativeness of any religión.

I think we come from somewhere and the most used answer to the question of: How was everything created? Is God. However, my thought is a bit strange, because I believe that existed a God who has been represented in different ways (as perceived by each person), but I do not believe in the Bible, I feel that this testament has been manipulated a lot, creating various versions. All differents.

In summary, I am a believer in the faith like symbolic and spiritual something, but I do not have a definitive religion and ¿Why?, because I believe that all religions have something of truth. Nevertheless, none have it completely.

Firts, I will be direct: The public health services that exist in Chile isn’t the best. The Social Outbreak and the Pandemic exposed many problems that have our country. One of these, is the bad management of the sanitary area.

Also, in different occasions have surged some medical negligences and diagnostic test since the people who have a cold to people with chronic diseases. In this context, I talk of the pandemic, as to that nurses have vaccinated to babys (without prior authorization), inoculations with different vaccines and the vaccination to people with substances that are useful for dogs. All this in a context pandemic, in which such negligence must not occur.

To this is added something very sad: Sometimes they call you for surgery or therapy, after of one, two, three, four month. In worst cases they call you after your death.

On the other hand, I think the government has not done everything possible to prevent disease. When our country presented a rise in infections of Covid - 19 in the hospitals, the government left the borders open. In others words, we waited until being at the worst moment to act in this sanitary panorama. On this same topic, I think that there should be alternative healthcare in the case of a hospital collapse.

I reiterate that the public health service that Chile has is not the best and we lack too much to have one of better quality, more comprehensive and that allows us decent health care for all people.

Politic

Hi! My name is Rodrigo Valdés and I want to tell you a little about my opinion of politic.

When I went to the school, I wasn’t very interested in politic. However, upon entering the University I realized that it was a relevant topic for my daily and journalistic life. Here are enter big topics, the voting, the concept of democracy, the freedom to choose, among other topics, but exists one reason very important for which I am interested in politic: This topic it is presented throughout our society in terms of the administration of our country.

I do not adhere any political party. What matters to me is that the country comply with the democracy and do not create injustices against the people.

The politics during years have demostrated be an topic that is wrapped in the problems, corruptions and bad practices for manage of the laws of our country, that's why Chile has tired of all the actions that Deputies and Senators have taken in the Congress.

In this sence, my career is focused in thing very important: “Question the Authority”. This means that we are in charge of investigating these practices of electoral campaigns, candidates, parliamentarians and among others to expose the truths of each area, in this case I speak specifically of politic.

As extra data i will tell you that: One thing that I really liked of politics ambit, it was when i had the majority age and i was able to vote in the plebiscite of last year. It is more the feeling of taking a piece of paper for the first time to mark you vote and then putting it in the ballot box is something unique. Even more, when the vote you are doing is for a common benefit and radical change in the country: Change the Constitution created in 1980, especific in the Dictatorship.

Voting is very important around the world, since you exert your right to choose and therefore assert a right that corresponds to you as a person.
